"Pat won a game too, I think."
This is a classic case of selective Sorry! amnesia. It happens often to people who are so addicted to winning that they block out their losses. There are a few forms of treatment, but none of them work if the patient is unwilling to admit they have a problem.
(My favorite form of treatment is the one where the patient is forced to stand on top of a Sorry! board while singing old Judy Garland songs. Every fifteen minutes a team of psychiatrists come in, check were the pawns are on the boards, and then they applaud wildly the patient's singing. Clever psychiatrists send in munchkins during the patient's rendition of Wizard of Oz songs. Oh, life in the mental ward at MB. Every day is fun day. And fridays are casual days.)

In auto racing is it always the same guys racing? Or, do they pick and choose which races they do, and only at the big big races they are all there. Aside from rooting for Jeff Gordon's car to explode into flames without harming anyone else, do you do any rooting during the race? Do you watch the whole thing? How long are auto races?
